MTN Group has officially launched the 2026 edition of its flagship employee volunteerism initiative, 21 Days of Y’ello Care, with a renewed focus on improving healthcare access in underserved communities across Africa.
The campaign, scheduled to run from June 1 to June 21, 2026, is themed “Expand Equitable Health for Every Community.” It aims to mobilize thousands of MTN employees across the company’s markets to support community-led healthcare interventions and strengthen access to essential health services.
Now in its 19th year, Y’ello Care has evolved into one of Africa’s largest corporate volunteer programs, driving impact in areas such as education, healthcare, youth development, and economic empowerment. According to MTN, the 2026 edition comes at a critical time as many African countries continue to face significant healthcare access challenges, particularly in rural and underserved regions.
As part of this year’s initiative, MTN employees and partners will implement a range of healthcare-focused projects, including mobile clinics, community outreach programs, health screenings, telemedicine services, digital health education campaigns, and preventive healthcare interventions. The company also plans to leverage digital technologies, data analytics, and connectivity solutions to improve healthcare delivery and strengthen health system resilience.
MTN Group’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, Nompilo Morafo, emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing healthcare challenges across the continent, noting that health security remains essential to economic growth, productivity, and community resilience.
The campaign also reflects growing concerns about public health preparedness following recent disease outbreaks in parts of Africa, reinforcing the need for stronger healthcare infrastructure, surveillance systems, and community trust.
Over the past six years, Y’ello Care has reached more than 107,000 people through the efforts of over 14,000 volunteers, contributing more than 56,000 hours of community service. Through the 2026 campaign, MTN aims to further expand its social impact by combining employee volunteerism with digital innovation to help bridge healthcare gaps across the continent.
