Norfund has appointed Naana Winful Fynn as its new Executive Vice President (EVP) for Financial Inclusion, elevating the long-serving investment executive to the organization’s management team.
Fynn succeeds Erik Sandersen in the role following his recent appointment as chief executive officer of Norfund.
The appointment comes after nine years as Regional Director for West Africa, where she led Norfund’s investment activities across one of its key regional portfolios while overseeing the organization’s Accra office. She has also served on Norfund’s Credit Committee for the past five years.
In her new position, Fynn will lead Norfund’s global financial inclusion investment strategy, overseeing investments designed to improve access to affordable financial services for individuals and businesses in developing countries.
Strengthening Financial Inclusion Across Emerging Markets
Financial inclusion remains a core pillar of Norfund’s development mandate, with investments spanning commercial banks, non-bank financial institutions, microfinance organizations, fintech companies, investment funds, and financial service platforms.
Through these investments, the development finance institution aims to support economic growth, stimulate job creation, and build resilient financial systems across emerging markets.
The financial inclusion portfolio also includes strategic investment platforms such as Arise and Abler Nordic, alongside several investment funds focused on expanding access to capital.
Extensive Global Investment Experience
Fynn brings extensive international finance and corporate leadership experience to the role.
Before joining Norfund, she held leadership positions at Goldman Sachs, Sagevest Holdings, CVS Corporation, and The Timberland Company.
She has also served on the boards of the Ghana Stock Exchange and CBI Ghana while contributing to investment oversight as a member of the investment advisory board for the Ghana Petroleum Funds, the country’s sovereign wealth fund.
In addition, she serves on the Africa Advisory Board of Harvard Business School. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Vassar College.
Her appointment reflects Norfund’s continued focus on strengthening leadership from within while advancing its mission of expanding access to finance for underserved communities and businesses across developing economies.
Business Verge congratulates Naana Winful Fynn on her appointment and wishes her success as she leads Norfund’s financial inclusion initiatives across global emerging markets.
