Microsoft has appointed Angela Nganga as its new Country Lead for East Africa, placing an experienced technology and public-policy executive at the centre of the company’s regional strategy.
Nganga, who joined Microsoft in 2012, most recently served as Regional Director of Customer Success for East and West Africa. She has also held senior positions including Director of Corporate Affairs for the Middle East and Africa and Education Industry Director for Africa.
In her new role, Nganga will lead Microsoft’s engagement with governments, enterprises and startups across East Africa while supporting partnerships focused on digital transformation, innovation and economic growth.
A major part of her mandate will be developing AI skills and workforce readiness, while helping local businesses build and scale technology solutions designed around regional challenges. Nganga has emphasized that East African companies should not only consume AI but also become producers of AI innovation.
Her appointment comes as Microsoft deepens its technology and cloud ambitions in East Africa, making the region’s growing startup ecosystem, digital infrastructure and AI capabilities increasingly important to its strategy.
