itel Energy Launches PowerTank 1000 and 11kW Hybrid Inverter to Tackle Power Challenges in Nigeria.

itel Energy has expanded its energy solutions portfolio with two new products designed to help Nigerian households and businesses manage unreliable electricity and reduce dependence on diesel generators.

The company unveiled the PowerTank 1000 and IPV-11K48T 11kW Hybrid Inverter in Nigeria on October 8, 2026, targeting users who need more reliable backup power for everyday activities and business operations.

The launch comes amid persistent electricity supply challenges across Nigeria. A report by Energy for Growth, published in August 2026, estimated that importers had spent $26 billion on diesel generators since 2000, highlighting the scale of Africa’s reliance on backup power.

For businesses that depend on refrigeration, digital equipment and other electricity-powered operations, prolonged outages can lead to higher operating costs, damaged inventory and lost revenue.

PowerTank 1000: Portable power for homes and small businesses

The PowerTank 1000 combines a battery, inverter and charging system in one unit, allowing users to access backup power without complex installation.

It delivers a 1,000W output and has a 2,000Wh capacity. Depending on electricity consumption, it can power essential appliances such as lights, fans, televisions, internet routers, phones and computers for eight hours or more on a full charge.

The device uses lithium iron phosphate battery cells, which the company says are designed for safety, efficiency and extended battery life. The cells are rated for up to 8,000 charge cycles, and the unit supports up to 1,200W of solar input.

It can reportedly recharge in as little as 2.5 hours under suitable conditions. Its switchover time of under 20 milliseconds is designed to help connected electronics remain powered during an outage.

The product is aimed at households with modest electricity needs and small businesses such as barbershops, tailoring shops, phone-repair outlets, printing businesses and pharmacies.

11kW Hybrid Inverter targets larger energy needs

The IPV-11K48T Hybrid Inverter is designed for larger households, offices and growing businesses that need to operate multiple high-demand appliances.

It delivers up to 11,000W of continuous power and supports up to 16.5kWp of solar panel input. Its dual maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controllers help optimise solar generation when panels receive different levels of sunlight or are installed at different angles.

The inverter also features a 73A bypass, allowing supported loads to continue operating while the battery charges. Users can connect up to 12 units in parallel, creating room to expand the system as electricity needs increase.

Built for demanding environments, the inverter comes with an IP54-rated enclosure, a three-layer thermal management system and a removable dust filter. It also carries a three-year warranty.

These features are intended to support operation in hot and dusty settings, including utility rooms, garages and generator areas.

A potential alternative to diesel generators

itel Energy is positioning the products as options for consumers and businesses looking for alternatives to conventional backup generators.

The PowerTank 1000 is intended for lighter everyday electricity needs, while the 11kW Hybrid Inverter targets users with heavier loads, including air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and other power-intensive appliances.

The company cited a retail outlet in Ogun State, Sinomart, which installed four 8kW inverters alongside a 16kWh battery system to maintain essential operations.

The example highlights how battery storage and inverter systems can help businesses manage outages, although the suitability and cost-effectiveness of each setup will depend on the user’s energy consumption, installation requirements and available solar resources.

After-sales support across Nigeria

Beyond the products, itel Energy says it provides a 48-hour after-sales service resolution commitment through Carlcare.

Customers can also access door-to-door service at their homes, shops or offices. The company says its support network includes five flagship service centres and more than 150 service centres across over 60 cities.

As Nigerian households and businesses continue to seek more dependable electricity, the adoption of alternative power systems will depend not only on capacity and performance but also on affordability, durability and access to reliable maintenance.

For itel Energy, the new launches expand its offering across different power needs. Whether they can deliver meaningful savings compared with diesel generators will depend on purchase costs, usage patterns and the long-term cost of maintaining each system.
