Egypt Approves $400 Million Data Center Project to Strengthen Cloud Infrastructure

Egypt has approved a $400 million data center project as part of its broader strategy to strengthen digital infrastructure, expand cloud computing capacity, and position itself as a regional technology hub. The project will be developed by Hassan Allam Digital Infrastructure in partnership with Egyptian technology investment firm A15.

The agreement was signed with Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), marking another significant step in the country’s ongoing digital transformation agenda. The facility is expected to provide advanced data hosting, cloud services, and AI-enabled infrastructure for government institutions, financial organizations, and private enterprises.

According to Egyptian authorities, the project aligns with plans to expand the nation’s data center and cloud computing ecosystem while attracting both local and foreign investment. Officials also noted that the government is developing a national strategy for data centers and cloud services aimed at enhancing Egypt’s digital sovereignty and strengthening its role as a regional data exchange hub.

The $400 million investment is the tenth data center license issued by the NTRA within the past two years, reflecting growing momentum in Egypt’s digital infrastructure sector. Industry projections indicate continued demand for cloud services, AI applications, and data storage across the region.

The initiative comes as Egypt seeks to accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies and support its national AI ambitions, with policymakers targeting significant economic contributions from artificial intelligence by the end of the decade.
