PiggyVest Unveils New App, Kids and Joint Accounts in 2026.

PiggyVest is expanding beyond traditional savings with a redesigned app and a new set of products targeting families, businesses and everyday financial needs.

The Nigerian fintech unveiled Kids Accounts, Joint Accounts, PiggyVest Business and Smart Salary, alongside a major redesign of its app, during OpenHouse 2026 at the National Theatre in Lagos.

The announcements come as PiggyVest marks 10 years since launching as Piggybank.ng in 2016, when the company started with a simple proposition: help Nigerians save money.

A decade later, the fintech is positioning itself for a much broader role in the financial lives of its users.

From a Savings App to a Financial Platform

PiggyVest started in 2016 as a savings-focused platform before rebranding in 2019 and expanding into investments and other financial services.

The company says its first year saw users save about ₦21 million, a figure that has grown significantly as its user base and product offering have expanded.

Now, PiggyVest says it wants to become “the financial operating system for the Nigerian household.”

That ambition is reflected in the products unveiled at OpenHouse, which are designed around different stages of users’ financial lives.

PiggyVest Introduces Kids and Joint Accounts

With PiggyVest Kids, parents can create accounts for their children directly from their existing PiggyVest profiles.

Parents can also set rules around access and usage, giving families a way to introduce children to saving and money management from an early age.

The fintech has also launched Joint Accounts, allowing friends, families, couples and other groups to save towards shared financial goals.

For business owners, PiggyVest Business provides tools to help manage expenses and cash flow, with features including SafeLock and Flex Naira.

The company is also preparing to launch Smart Salary, which will allow users to control when portions of their salary become available for spending.

The feature is designed around a familiar problem: receiving a salary and watching it disappear faster than expected.

A Smaller and Faster PiggyVest App

The fintech has also rebuilt its main app with a focus on making it smaller, faster and easier to navigate.

Users can now fund PiggyBank accounts through direct bank transfers, while Group Target Savings has also been simplified to make collaborative saving easier.

PiggyVest’s Flex Dollar product is also getting an upgrade, with users now able to fund their dollar accounts through an account number.

The company said future updates will include stablecoin options and easier transfers between Flex Dollar and PocketApp accounts.

PocketApp Gets a Major Rebuild

PiggyVest’s payments platform, PocketApp, is also getting a new look and additional functionality.

The redesigned app introduces features such as Quick Send, which stores frequently used payment details, and Scan to Pay, allowing users to scan account information before completing a transaction.

A new Split feature lets users create payment links for shared expenses, including situations where some participants do not have Pocket accounts.

The app will also bring bills, utilities, events and ticket purchases into a more integrated experience.

PocketApp is further introducing Pocket ID, which the company says will make transactions simpler, while users can now shake their phones to report issues and send feedback.

Building for the Next 10 Years

The expansion reflects how Nigerians’ financial lives have changed since PiggyVest launched.

More people now earn through online businesses, content creation, freelancing, social commerce and other forms of work outside the traditional 9-to-5 structure.

That means their financial needs are also becoming more varied.

PiggyVest’s latest product push appears designed to respond to that shift — moving from a platform primarily focused on helping people save money to one that wants to help them manage money across different stages of life.

As the company enters its second decade, its new products suggest that the next chapter of PiggyVest will be less about a single savings habit and more about becoming part of the broader financial ecosystem of Nigerian individuals, families and businesses.
