As rising living costs continue to pressure household budgets, Nigerians are becoming more deliberate about how they spend, save and manage their money.
Against this backdrop, fintech company PalmPay is expanding the range of financial tools available on its platform, combining everyday payments with savings, bill payments, cashback and other services designed to help users manage their finances more effectively.
One of the latest offerings is Mega Savings Monday, a savings product available to PalmPay users through third-party provider Flexi MFB. The product allows users to save for eight days and earn up to 25% interest per annum, with savings and applicable interest paid the following Tuesday.
Users can then choose to withdraw their funds or reinvest them, creating a recurring opportunity to save and earn returns.
PalmPay says the initiative is designed to encourage more consistent saving, particularly as Nigerians navigate competing daily expenses. The company is positioning the product as part of a broader effort to move digital finance beyond payments and toward tools that help customers preserve value and manage their money.
The expansion also reflects a wider shift in Nigeria’s fintech sector, where consumers increasingly expect digital platforms to offer more than basic payment services. Savings, financial management and rewards are becoming important parts of the competition for users.
PalmPay Managing Director, Chika Nwosu, said the company’s focus is on making digital finance more inclusive and valuable by giving customers tools to pay, save, earn and manage their money in one place.
For PalmPay, the strategy represents a move toward an all-in-one financial ecosystem. For Nigerian consumers, it highlights the growing role of fintech platforms in helping them navigate an increasingly expensive economy while seeking better ways to manage their income.
