FirstBank Names Julius Omodayo-Owotuga Executive Director

FirstBank has announced the appointment of Julius Omodayo-Owotuga as Executive Director, adding another experienced finance and corporate strategy expert to its leadership team as the bank continues its transformation and growth agenda.

Owotuga is a seasoned executive with more than two decades of experience across banking, finance, treasury management, investment strategy, and the energy sector. Over the years, he has built a reputation in corporate leadership, risk management, and financial operations, working across both public and private sector institutions.

Before joining FirstBank’s executive leadership, he served as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Geregu Power Plc, one of Nigeria’s leading power generation companies chaired by billionaire businessman Femi Otedola. During his time there, he played a key role in corporate finance, operational strategy, and stakeholder management within Nigeria’s power sector.

He also previously served as a Non-Executive Director at FBN Holdings, the parent company of FirstBank, giving him prior exposure to the institution’s governance structure and long-term strategic direction. His professional background additionally includes years of experience in treasury operations, financial advisory, and investment management within Nigeria’s financial services ecosystem.

The appointment comes as FirstBank continues to strengthen its executive team under CEO Olusegun Alebiosu, with the bank focusing on digital transformation, operational efficiency, corporate governance, and long-term profitability amid rising competition in the banking industry. Analysts see the move as part of the bank’s broader effort to position itself for sustainable growth while reinforcing investor and stakeholder confidence.
