Airtel Nigeria has announced that 2,050 women across Nigeria have benefited from its financial inclusion initiative under the Airtel Africa Foundation’s Empower Her programme. The initiative is aimed at expanding economic opportunities for women and supporting entrepreneurship through access to formal financial systems.
According to the company, the programme has been implemented in key locations including Lagos, Abuja, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Enugu and Kano. The beneficiaries were onboarded into formal financial systems as part of efforts to improve financial access and independence.
As part of the programme, 300 women received mini grants to help grow their businesses, while another 300 participants were enrolled into agent banking services, enabling them to offer financial services within their communities and generate additional income.
Airtel Nigeria said the success of the initiative was made possible through partnerships with Smartcash PSB and Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, alongside support from Airtel staff and volunteers.
The company also commended participating women for embracing the programme and taking steps toward strengthening their businesses and economic future.
The Empower Her initiative reflects the broader commitment of the Airtel Africa Foundation to promoting financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and sustainable opportunities for women across Nigeria.
