Kenya’s leading telecommunications operator, Safaricom, has launched PATA MORE, a customer value campaign that introduces lower M-PESA transaction fees, larger data bundles, faster home fibre speeds, and additional digital benefits without increasing prices.
The initiative is designed to deepen customer engagement by delivering greater value across Safaricom’s mobile connectivity, financial services, and digital ecosystem. Rather than focusing solely on acquiring new subscribers, the company is encouraging existing customers to use more of its services through enhanced everyday offerings.
Among the key changes are reduced M-PESA charges for individuals and small businesses. Under the new structure, Pochi la Biashara customers can receive payments of up to KES 200 free of charge, up from the previous KES 100 threshold. Fees for higher-value transactions have also been lowered, while selected Business Till transfers now cost nearly half their previous rates.
Safaricom has also increased the value of several popular data bundles. Customers purchasing the KES 20 daily bundle now receive 250MB, compared with 150MB previously. The KES 99 daily bundle has been upgraded from 1GB to 1.5GB, while the KES 1,000 monthly bundle now offers 21.5GB, more than double its previous allocation.
Home internet subscribers are also set to benefit from enhanced fibre speeds at no additional cost, while selected smartphone buyers will receive bundled connectivity and device protection benefits. Safaricom’s My OneApp continues to integrate M-PESA, mobile, fibre, and customer support into a single digital platform, reinforcing the company’s strategy of creating a more connected customer experience.
The PATA MORE campaign reflects intensifying competition in Kenya’s telecommunications market, where operators are increasingly competing through enhanced value propositions instead of outright price reductions.
