MTN Group Fintech has announced a strategic partnership with Ant International aimed at accelerating digital inclusion and transforming its mobile money ecosystem across Africa.
The collaboration will introduce a new super-app platform for MTN’s Mobile Money (MoMo) users, beginning with a launch in Nigeria next quarter. The platform is designed to enhance customer experience, expand access to digital financial services, and create a broader ecosystem that integrates finance, commerce, and lifestyle services.
According to MTN, the partnership will leverage Ant International’s advanced financial technology capabilities to strengthen the MoMo platform through mini-app integration, enhanced fraud prevention tools, and improved engagement features for both consumers and merchants. The move forms part of MTN’s broader strategy to build a more resilient and future-ready digital financial ecosystem.
Speaking on the development, Ralph Mupita, President and CEO of MTN Group, said the partnership aligns with the company’s ambition of delivering leading digital solutions for Africa’s progress.
He noted that the collaboration reflects MTN’s commitment to transforming customer experiences through a seamless, secure, and intuitive mobile money platform while expanding economic participation and advancing financial inclusion across the continent.
The agreement underscores MTN’s growing focus on fintech as a key driver of growth under its long-term digital transformation strategy. With millions of users already relying on MoMo services, the integration of Ant International’s technology is expected to strengthen digital payment capabilities and broaden access to financial services for underserved communities across Africa.
The partnership marks another significant step in MTN’s efforts to build a comprehensive digital ecosystem that supports financial inclusion, innovation, and sustainable economic growth throughout its markets.
