Mastercard has received two major global recognitions, highlighting its business performance and growing use of artificial intelligence across its operations.
The payments technology company ranked among the top 20 companies globally in TIME’s World’s Best Companies 2026 and placed sixth in Fortune’s 2026 AIQ 75, a ranking that evaluates how effectively Fortune 500 companies are turning artificial intelligence into measurable business results.
TIME’s ranking, developed with Statista, assesses companies based on employee satisfaction, revenue growth and sustainability transparency. Mastercard’s inclusion follows its earlier recognition in TIME’s 2026 list of the world’s most influential companies, where it was also recognised among the 10 most influential companies in global finance.
The company’s performance in Fortune’s AIQ 75 further underscores its position in the growing adoption of AI within financial services. Mastercard ranked behind JPMorgan Chase, Alphabet, Coca-Cola, Amazon and Nvidia, placing it ahead of Visa and other major companies in the top 10.
Fortune’s 2026 ranking evaluates companies on their AI implementation, investment returns, competitive advantage and governance, while this year’s methodology also considers the maturity, value and scale of AI-agent deployments.
Mastercard is applying AI across its business to strengthen security, improve customer experiences and develop new ways for consumers and businesses to interact and transact. The company has also emphasised the importance of building trust into its AI systems as the technology becomes increasingly integrated into commerce.
The recognition reflects a broader shift in financial services, where AI adoption is moving beyond experimentation toward applications that can deliver measurable improvements in operations, customer service and competitive positioning.
For Mastercard, the latest rankings reinforce its efforts to combine its established position in global payments with emerging technologies that could shape the next phase of digital commerce.
