The African Development Bank Group, through the Africa Digital Financial Inclusion Facility (ADFI), has awarded a $510,000 grant to Morocco’s Insurance and Social Welfare Supervisory Authority (ACAPS) to strengthen financial inclusion in the insurance sector. ACAPS will add a counterpart contribution of $170,000, bringing the total project value to $680,000.
The initiative is designed to expand access to insurance services for underserved groups, particularly women and young people, by supporting innovative technologies and InsurTech solutions. It will also help insurance providers develop products that are more accessible, transparent, and tailored to customer needs.
In addition, the programme will provide technical and methodological support to traditional insurers so they can modernize operations and adapt to changing market conditions. It also aligns with Morocco’s National Financial Inclusion Strategy by promoting inclusive insurance offerings and improving economic protection for vulnerable populations.
The grant agreement was signed on April 23, 2026, during a ceremony chaired by Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah Alaoui.
Since beginning operations in Morocco in 1978, the African Development Bank Group has mobilized nearly $16 billion across more than 150 projects in sectors including transport, agriculture, governance, energy, water, and finance.
