Airtel Zambia has launched a five-year scholarship programme that will provide 50 fully funded opportunities to students pursuing technology-related programmes at two of Zambia’s leading public universities.
The Airtel Africa Fellowship, sponsored by the Airtel Africa Foundation, will support 25 students at the University of Zambia (UNZA) and another 25 at Copperbelt University (CBU). The programme is targeted at academically gifted students from vulnerable backgrounds.
The scholarship covers tuition and accommodation throughout the five-year programme. Beneficiaries will also receive laptops, monthly data connectivity and a monthly allowance to support their studies.
Beyond financial assistance, the fellowship includes internship opportunities designed to give students practical industry experience and improve their readiness for employment after graduation.
The initiative comes as demand for technology skills continues to grow across Africa, with Airtel Zambia positioning the programme around education and digital inclusion. Managing Director Hussam Baday said the company wants to create opportunities for young people to participate more meaningfully in the digital economy.
Applications are open to prospective first-year students enrolled in eligible technology-related programmes at UNZA and CBU. A separate TechAfrica News report states that eligible applicants must be Zambian students admitted for the 2026/27 academic year, with applications open until October 9, 2026.
The programme adds to Airtel Zambia’s broader education and digital-inclusion initiatives, while connecting university education with practical opportunities in Zambia’s technology sector.
