Flam Raises $40 Million to Build the Next Layer of Interactive AI Content

AI-generated content is becoming increasingly common, but Flam wants to take the technology beyond content that people simply watch.

The AI interactive content company has raised $40 million in Series B funding, led by QED Investors, as it looks to expand its technology, develop new AI models and scale its enterprise business globally. The round also included Claypond Capital, Martin Chavez, Olivier Pomel, Venky Harinarayan and Shah Rukh Khan, while existing investors RTP Global and Dovetail also participated.

Founded in 2021, Flam is building technology that allows brands to create interactive digital experiences across video, 3D content and AI-powered virtual characters.

The company says it has signed more than 100 enterprise customers over six quarters, including major brands such as Google, Emirates and KFC. These customers use Flam’s technology across marketing, product visualisation, learning and development, entertainment, fan engagement, customer support and sales.

From Watching Content to Interacting With It

Flam’s approach is based on a simple shift: instead of consumers only receiving digital content, they can interact with it.

One of its products, Flicks, allows videos to change people, products or scenes during playback. Its Airboards provide interactive 3D experiences through a smartphone camera, with support for touch, voice and haptic interactions. Flam says these experiences can be accessed without users installing a separate application.

The company also has Visual Agents, AI-powered characters designed to communicate with users and take actions. Its technology stack includes models for facial expressions, voice and language processing, with Flam reporting that its full response pipeline can return answers in under two seconds.

Flam currently holds more than 15 patents covering areas of its technology, including interactive content generation and delivery.

Why the New Funding Matters

The latest funding will support research and development of Flam’s AI models, expansion of its product portfolio and the scaling of its enterprise sales operations internationally.

For Flam, the opportunity extends beyond producing another AI content-generation tool. QED Investors said its investment was driven by the company’s focus on interactive experiences rather than simply improving existing content formats.

That distinction could become increasingly relevant as businesses look for ways to make digital advertising, product demonstrations, customer support and entertainment more responsive to individual users.

Flam Expands Into Nigeria

The company is also making moves in the Nigerian market through SmartSense Technologies, its exclusive partner in the country.

SmartSense says it will help bring Flam’s technology to Nigerian brands, agencies and enterprises, with a focus on localising the technology for business applications.

Nigeria’s large mobile-first consumer market could provide a significant testing ground for interactive digital experiences, particularly across advertising, entertainment, retail and customer engagement.

With its latest funding, Flam is now looking to turn interactive AI content from an emerging concept into a technology that businesses can deploy at scale.
