Google has announced the rollout of the first phase of 100,000 Career Certificate scholarships in Ghana, marking a significant step in efforts to strengthen digital skills and workforce readiness across the country. The initiative builds on a prior commitment made during the launch of Google’s AI Community Center in Accra and is aimed at supporting Ghana’s growing pool of young digital talent.
The scholarships provide access to flexible, online training programmes developed by Google, enabling participants to gain job-ready skills in high-demand fields within approximately six months.
Available learning tracks include artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, cybersecurity, digital marketing and e-commerce, IT support, project management, and user experience (UX) design. These courses are designed to equip learners with practical, industry-relevant skills aligned with global labour market needs.
The programme will be delivered exclusively through Ghana’s One Million Coders (OMC) Programme, a national initiative aimed at training one million citizens in digital skills by 2030. Google is partnering with the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations to integrate its certifications into the country’s broader digital development strategy.
Applications for the first cohort are now open via the One Million Coders platform, positioning the initiative as a key driver of Ghana’s digital transformation and youth employment agenda.
