MTN MoMo Rwanda Accelerates Digital Finance Growth with 30.2% Revenue Surge.

MTN Rwanda’s fintech subsidiary, MoMo Rwanda, has reported a 30.2% year-on-year revenue growth, reaching Rwf 109.4 billion for the nine months ending September 30, 2025. The company’s financial results, published on its official platform, highlight the strong momentum behind Rwanda’s digital finance ecosystem as more consumers and merchants embrace mobile money services.

The growth was underpinned by a 12.2% increase in active MoMo subscribers, climbing to 5.8 million during the period. This rise was supported by the expansion of MTN’s merchant network, which now counts 578,000 partners across the country. Chantal Kagame, Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Money Rwanda Ltd, emphasized MoMo’s central role in driving financial inclusion and digital transformation, noting that the platform continues to “connect people to opportunity and prosperity.”

According to Kagame, “Our MoMo customer base grew by 634,000, reaching 5.8 million a strong testament to the trust and adoption Rwandans continue to place in us as they embrace a digital lifestyle.”

Advanced fintech services such as digital payments, remittances, and micro-lending grew by 37%, now accounting for 28.5% of MoMo’s total revenue. Overall, the fintech arm contributed 50.6% to MTN Rwanda’s total service revenue, which also rose 14.2% to Rwf 216.2 billion in the same period.

Average monthly transaction volumes surged to 246 million, signaling MoMo’s deep integration into daily commerce. Kagame added that through “innovation and inclusion,” MTN MoMo Rwanda is “not just powering transactions but powering transformation,” ensuring every Rwanda has the tools to thrive in an increasingly digital economy.
