MTN Earns Top Honours for Governance and Stakeholder Engagement

MTN Group has once again cemented its reputation for effective capital markets engagement, clinching top honours at the 2025 Extel Europe & Emerging EMEA Equities Awards. The independent survey, widely regarded as one of the most credible measures of corporate performance in investor relations, reflects the feedback of institutional investors, analysts, and market stakeholders across the region.

The latest edition drew responses from more than 460 voters, nominating 608 individuals from 304 companies—14% higher than last year. Respondents assessed companies against a rigorous set of performance metrics, including management credibility, capital allocation, productivity of engagements, investor events, disclosure quality, and ESG standards.

Sweeping Multiple Categories

Against this benchmark, MTN emerged as Best Corporate in Investor Relations and Best Team in Investor Relations within the Large Cap EMEA-TMT sector. The Group was also ranked first in the Most Honoured Companies category.

The recognition extended further, with MTN and its executives topping eight award categories:

For MTN, the awards are more than symbolic. They validate the Group’s consistent focus on credibility, transparency, and proactive engagement with investors. “The work to safeguard and enhance MTN’s reputation with our capital markets stakeholders is a major priority for us,” said Tsholofelo Molefe, MTN Group Chief Financial Officer.

Her comments underscore MTN’s strategy of combining financial discipline with open and consistent communication, aimed at strengthening trust across capital markets.

Building Investor Confidence

Thato Motlanthe, MTN Group Executive for Investor Relations, highlighted the weight of the recognition, noting the broad scope of the Extel survey. “We are deeply appreciative of the confidence placed in MTN by the investment community. We will continue to provide clear and timely insights while listening closely to our stakeholders as we build enduring relationships,” he said.

The latest accolades extend MTN’s track record at the Extel awards and reinforce its standing as one of Africa’s leading multinationals. At a time when investor trust and ESG performance are increasingly tied to long-term competitiveness, MTN’s recognition signals how African corporations are shaping global standards for governance and stakeholder engagement.
